Traffic is easy. Conversions are not

As a first time SAAS founder, its easy to fall into the trap of thinking that if somehow we can manage to get a ton of traffic, even a trickle of the conversions will mean we will be very rich veri soon. So the problem is traffic. How do we get more traffic. Thousands like I said. And I am going to be creative. No ads for me. I will earn it. with my creativity. and with "Growth Hacks"
This is a tempting line of thinking. But reality is much much harsher than that.
This line of thinking is reimforced by many blog posts, videos and podcasts focussed on how to get more traffic. Most software tools are in this area of the funnel.
After starting and failing at a SAAS company earlier, with jjjk I realised that traffic is not something I should ever really worry about. Its the easiest part of the funnel. Whats truly difficult is getting users to signup and then activate.
Traffic is easy. If you find that difficult to believe, consider this. Traffic can be bought. Right now. Using Google ads and such.
You can't buy conversions and activation. There is no Google ads version of a tool for conversions. Its a more human process. More intrinsic to your product and you as a person.
Activation is typically a journey not a decision the user makes. You will have to go along the journey with the user. Thats why automated autoresponders and newsletters as a tool to get more users to have a happy journey through your "trial" period is worth their weight in gold.
